The Air OPS Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 965/2012) provides the opportunity for certain activities with single-engine aircraft. The regulation establishes the legal framework applicable to these operations, complemented by AMC and GM adopted by the Agency. These operations enable the use of modern aeroplanes with a smaller carbon footprint.
These guidelines cover the following areas:
- Validation of the operational capability of the operator,
- Training items from operator reports,
- Forced landing procedure design criteria.

It encompasses Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947, along with the corresponding acceptable means of compliance (AMC) and guidance material (GM), as well as Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 concerning unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and third-country operators of UAS.
The September 2022 revision includes updates introduced by:
- Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/425, amending Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947 to postpone transition dates for certain UAS in the ‘open’ category and adjust application dates for specific standard scenarios.
- ED Decision 2022/002/R, amending ED Decision 2019/021/R, addressing ‘geographical zones’, operational authorization forms in the ‘specific’ category, procedures, and forms for cross-border operations, standard scenarios, training module syllabus for remote pilots in the ‘specific’ category, and a new predefined risk assessment.
